Over the duration of 24 hours, Technica hackers are immersed in tech culture and encouraged to exercise their imagination to create interesting and innovative hacks. Since 2021, Technica has been hosted in a hybrid format, with the option to hack virtually or in-person depending on one’s preference.

Technica is not a typical hackathon: it’s a registered 501c3 nonprofit providing a welcoming, engaging, and creative environment to support all women and minorities alike. This annual gathering allows everyone ranging from beginners to season hackers to explore technology and develop their skills as engineers, designers, and creators.

Startup Track

Technica’s Startup track provides hackers with hands-on experience to explore entrepreneurship. The track includes opportunities to learn about teamwork, effective presenting and pitching, and turning ideas into a business.

Use Technica to…

  • Collaborate/sponsor research projects

Each year, Technica co-hosts a separate research track with the Iribe Initiative for Inclusion & Diversity in Computing to engage undergraduate women and non-binary students in computing research. During these 3 days, student teams pair up with faculty members to address pressing topics in research. Along with providing hands-on research experience in a dynamic hackathon setting, the track highlights the opportunities that come with pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science.

  • Launch my venture

With the sheer number of resources available at this event, Technica is the perfect setting for everyone to bring their next big idea to life during the span of just 24 hours. Not only does Technica serve as an incubator for creating and promoting a gender-diverse workforce in the future, it also gives its participants the opportunity to solve real-world problems by creating new applications, websites, or hardware projects.

  • Learn about entrepreneurship

According to Major League Hacking, hackathon is best described as an “invention marathon.” Anyone who has an interest in technology attends a hackathon to learn, build and share their creations over the course of a weekend in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. You don’t have to be a programmer or majoring in Computer Science to attend Technica and apply your skills in an entrepreneurial setting.

  • Mentor entrepreneurs

If you want to help empower a new generation of technologists, consider attending Technica as an official mentor. Mentors help hackers bring their ideas to life by hosting a workshop or being a resource for beginners who may have questions about their projects. Technica welcomes anyone of any gender willing to share their knowledge and expertise!

  • Recruit interns & hire future grads

This annual hackathon attracts (nearly 1000) of the best and brightest talent from across the country who spend the weekend hacking and working on innovative projects that will create real world impact. By attending and sponsoring Technica, you can identify interns and future employees from all backgrounds to work for your venture.
