The Innovation & Entrepreneurship minor equips students with the knowledge and skills to ramp up their own businesses, as well as to innovate and think creatively about problem-solving and strategy.

The Innovation & Entrepreneurship minor equips students with the knowledge and skills to ramp up their own businesses, as well as to innovate and think creatively about problem-solving and strategy. The minor admits new students each spring, with applications available from December to February. Applicants provide general information, answer essay questions, and submit the contact information of a University of Maryland, College Park faculty member to provide a recommendation. Upon review of applications, students will be notified of their final status prior to the registration period for the Fall semester. For more information, please contact smithminors@rhsmith.umd.edu.

  • Find an entrepreneurship program

    The Smith School Innovation and Entrepreneurship Minor is an excellent entry point for students to get involved in Dingman Center programs. Students who are working on a business idea in the Entrepreneurship (BMGT461) class participate in Terp Marketplace and may take advantage of Dingman Fridays advising hours to grow their venture from a class project to a viable business.

  • Find entrepreneurship events

    Students enrolled in the Smith School’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Minor are required to attend and participate in a number of Dingman Center events to encourage experiential learning.

  • Learn about entrepreneurship

    Students enrolled in the Smith School’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Minor courses gain access to the Smith School’s world renowned faculty, regardless of their major. As part of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship curriculum, students are provided with opportunities to create and manage their own businesses and learn from successful entrepreneurs.

  • Recruit interns & hire future grads

    Students enrolled in the Smith School’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Minor are excellent candidates to hire for your startup. These students are representative of a variety of colleges and majors, and are equipped to bring an innovative, entrepreneurial mindset to any industry role.
