John Sawyer

John P. Sawyer is the Director of Strategic Corporate Research Relationships, where he is expanding the unique partnership between the University of Maryland and Lockheed Martin as well as growing the volume and visibility of other corporate research collaborations. John joined the Division of Research after six years as a senior researcher at UMD’s National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), where he co-founded and led the Special Projects Division and served as START’s Commercialization Director. Prior to START, John worked in the private sector as a business development consultant. John graduated from UMD with degrees in History and Government and Politics before earning a Masters in Security Studies and a Doctorate in Government from Georgetown University.
