Patrick Mendez, Ph.D.

As the Director of Research Development Capture Management, Patrick is dedicated to advancing UMD's research capabilities and strategic initiatives, particularly in translational research. His role involves developing and executing capture strategies to position research opportunities from the Departments of Defense, Energy, Education, National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation (NSF), and related agencies aligned with UMD's robust research programs and strategic goals.

Patrick's core competencies include designing and executing growth initiatives, defining and negotiating global strategic partnerships, building relationships with key public sector decision-makers, and overseeing large and competitive proposals across multiple domains and agencies. He is passionate about enabling and empowering the R&D community to create and deliver innovative solutions that address the most pressing problems of our society.
