The Snider Consulting Group (SCG) is a premier student-run organization that provides hands-on consulting opportunities while developing bonds across the UMD campus. SCG is a replica of real-world management consulting firms and designed to strategize for Maryland clubs, enabling members to understand the projects they will complete in their careers post-graduation.

SCG is currently partnered with Ernst & Young (EY). EY sends consultants to regularly help collaborate on projects and network with SCG members. EY Consulting is ranked #6 under the “2021 Most Prestigious Consulting Firms” list.

Each SCG client team has a group of EY Consultants, Senior Managers, and/or Partners guiding us on the next step and proper protocols we should take when advising our clients. While SCG does the strategizing and client work, EY provides valuable mentorship in a fashion unlike any other club in the Robert H. Smith School of Business.

Who We Help

We work with undergraduate University of Maryland clubs and organizations to determine best practices for your group. SCG works with you to grow.

Each semester, we undertake new clients to engage with for 3-4 months. Despite the single semester time frame, we love to maintain interaction over a longer span.

Once connected, our team will work with you to fill out an engagement paper to diagnose any areas of improvement and objectives for the project. Together, we create a one-semester plan. We are happy to sit in on meetings to get a better feel for your organization's environment!

Selection Process

SCG recruits members based on networking, classroom excellence, relations with previous club leaders, and applications on HireSmith. SCG searches for members who: display a high level of motivation in the classroom, have consulting experience through fellows, internships, projects, are outgoing, and confidently adapt to new ventures. As a part of the onboarding process, new analysts will engage in numerous faculty-led workshops to enhance their consulting expertise and work on benchmarking analysis for the remainder of the semester. After establishing a foundation of consulting knowledge and understanding SCG's inner operations, our new members are ready to join the ranks as consultants and tackle client projects in the upcoming term.

Eligibility

All academically eligible students at the University of Maryland will be considered,  preferably having held at least one leadership position on campus.
