The Maryland Global Consulting Program was launched in 2016 through a partnership between the Maryland Department of Commerce and the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business. The program aims to provide global consulting to Maryland companies looking to gain expertise in international expansion and global business strategies. The Maryland Global Consulting Program gives local businesses a chance to tap into services and support provided by the students and faculty of the Smith School's Center for Global Business , as well as staff from Maryland Commerce's Office of International Investment and Trade. 

Program Features:

  • Student teams provide as many as 10 hours per week of consulting per semester on one consulting project.
  • Recommendations are based on project scope, which could include a review of a company’s global strategy.
  • Students are advised by our top-rated Smith School faculty, along with Maryland Department of Commerce, Office of International Investment and Trade subject matter experts.
  • Consulting projects may be aligned with one traditional functional area or cross-functional areas, including data analytics, fintech, blockchain, etc.
  • Student teams will provide a set of actionable recommendations at the conclusion of the project.
