Marketing and Programming Associate, Terrapin Development Company

Tanya Haro serves as the Marketing & Programming Associate for the Discovery District Partnership. She graduated from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business in 2024 with a degree in Marketing. As the third Terp in her family, she is excited to be back in College Park, highlighting and supporting the growth of the Discovery District.

In the summer of 2024, Tanya served as a camp counselor at the Children's Beach House in Lewes, DE, where she experienced the profound impact of community. At the same time, she worked as the social media manager for a small catering company in Denton, MD, where she helped increase the business’s visibility, promote their offerings, and engage with customers. During her undergrad, Tanya was an Adobe Student Ambassador, where she worked to promote free Creative Cloud access to UMD students. This role provided her with valuable experience in developing marketing strategies and allowed her to gain real-world insights from Adobe specialists. Tanya also participated in product testing, further enhancing her hands-on marketing expertise.

Additionally, Tanya interned and served as a fellow at JPMorgan Chase & Co. During her junior year, she was an Affluent Growth Product Summer Analyst at Chase in Wilmington, DE, where she gained insights into marketing strategy and effective communication, particularly in storytelling. As a sophomore, Tanya was a Fellow in the Advancing Hispanics and Latinos Fellowship program at JPMorgan Chase in Newark, DE. There, she developed professional, leadership, and technical skills in the financial sector, while also receiving one-on-one mentoring and exposure to senior-level management.

In her current role, Tanya promotes the Discovery District and its amenities on social media. One of her favorite aspects to highlight is the wide range of recreational opportunities available. Whether it's biking or running on the Trolley Trail, taking lessons at the Junior Tennis Champions Center, or ice skating at Herbert Wells Ice Rink, there's something for everyone. With the upcoming Purple Line, access to the University of Maryland campus is easy and convenient, making it an ideal commute for faculty and staff. Tanya is also excited to showcase the District's technological advancements, particularly in fields like quantum and AI, and contribute to making the Discovery District the ideal place to live, work, and play.

Tanya grew up playing soccer and, while she hasn’t had time to return to the sport, she’s open to playing again. In the meantime, she has developed a passion for weightlifting and running and hopes to participate in more races in the future. She also enjoys exploring new parks and outdoor spaces with her dogs, Yaki and Milan, as well as spending time with her friends and family.
