Alex Onufrak
Alex Onufrak is the Associate Director of Technology Services at the xFoundry@UMD.
He previously worked with the Venture Programs team at the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship to produce thoughtful and engaging events and initiatives, while assisting the Managing Director with logistics, operations, and strategy.
Shortly before starting his undergraduate work at the University of Maryland, Onufrak began Solr Tech, a venture that develops small-scale, decentralized solar products, aimed at increasing customer experience and retention. With his first product, the Solr Retrofit Kit, Onufrak developed a powerful and convenient way to turn standard outdoor patio umbrellas into solar charging stations.
Onufrak grew his venture from an idea to market, utilizing resources entrepreneurial resources across the UMD’s campus, including Dingman’s Terp Startup Accelerator, Terp Marketplace, New Venture Practicum, Dingman Fridays, and ultimately placing 2nd in the Pitch Dingman Competition.
He continued his involvement in UMD’s prospering entrepreneurial community as Executive Director of Startup Shell, a student-run startup incubator and co-working space, working directly with students to help foster entrepreneurship through collaboration. He graduated in 2021 with a degree in Information Science from the University of Maryland’s College of Information Studies.
