Piotr Kulczakowicz

Piotr Kulczakowicz is Director of Quantum Startup Foundry at UMD, a startup accelerator that provides home and connectivity to the Capital of Quantum, Maryland-centered quantum ecosystem, for both early stage and established small and medium businesses developing products and services based on recent rapid progress in quantum research and technology development, including fields of quantum computing, sensing, communication, and post-quantum cybersecurity.

Prior to leading QSF, Piotr managed and licensed UMD‘s intellectual property portfolio in engineering and physical sciences including quantum. He advised more than 20 UMD spinoff companies. Before joining UMD, Piotr was leading strategy and business development at Quantum4D, a non-quantum software startup. 

Piotr advanced his business skills while at McKinsey&Company in their European, North American, and Asian offices, leading a number of innovation and research projects with the Strategy Practice and McKinsey Global Institute.

After graduation with a Master’s Degree in Applied Physics, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Laser Spectroscopy Group at the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He also received an MBA degree.
